I know the value in having a good assistant because I
taught at a school where I was blessed with a teacher's
assistant. But now, thanks to budget cuts and other
decisions, I am forced to teach, train, counsel,
love, and care for 20plus adorable chaps - all
alone. Are you like that? Well, I know how
you feel. I echo the need for someone to help with the
extra paper work and the million other tasks that I
have. I could sure you some extra help when it comes to
giving my "special needs" students the
attention they deserve. I could sure use more help
when it comes to keeping all of my parents informed of
their child's progress.
So
we must face a harsh reality, that unless something
major happens in the way society thinks, teacher
assistants are not going to be a high priority in the
budget. The expectation to do more with less is
prevailing in our community and at times it is
discouraging. Yet, there is some encouragement I can get
out of this and that is - the Lord is my assistant.
The
Word says:
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from
whence cometh my help.
My help cometh from the Lord, which made
heaven and earth. Psalm 121:1-2
The God who made heaven and earth is surely able to
assist you. Call on Him and watch him work.
